Ignasius Jonan was absent from the trial in the case of Riza Chalid's child.
The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) for the 2016-2019 period, Ignasius Jonan, was absent from the trial of the alleged corruption case involving the son of suspect Riza Chalid, Muhammad Kerry Adrianto Riza, at the Jakarta Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court on Thursday.

Public Prosecutor (JPU) from the Attorney General's Office, Triyana Setia Putra, stated that Jonan had initially been summoned to appear to provide testimony in the trial, but he was ill.

"Based on the information we received, Mr. Ignasius Jonan is sick and is seeking treatment abroad," said the public prosecutor during the trial.

Due to Jonan's absence, the Public Prosecutor only presented Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources for the 2016-2019 period Arcandra Tahar to be examined as a witness in the trial.

While serving as Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Arcandra also served as Deputy President Commissioner of PT Pertamina (Persero).

Arcandra was a witness in the trial of the alleged corruption case regarding the management of crude oil and refinery products in the 2018-2023 period, which implicated Kerry, the beneficial owner of PT Navigator Khatulistiwa, as a defendant.

In that case, Kerry was accused of enriching himself to the tune of Rp3.07 trillion, resulting in a state loss of Rp285.18 trillion.

In addition to Kerry, there were also Vice President of Feedstock Management of PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) for 2023-2024 Agus Purwono, President Director of PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) for 2022-2024 Yoki Firnandi, Commissioner of PT Pelayaran Mahameru Kencana Abadi (PMKA) Gading Ramadhan Juedo and Commissioner of PT JMN Dimas Werhaspati, in the same session.
