The Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) urges regional heads to fill vacant positions according to procedures.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has urged regional heads throughout Indonesia to fill vacant positions in accordance with procedures and regulations.

"We urge all regional governments to follow procedures for filling positions at any level, transparently and accountably, in accordance with the competencies and needs of the positions to be filled," said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK's Red and White Building.

Budi said the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) issued this appeal after the revelation of an alleged extortion case in filling village official positions carried out by Sudewo (SDW) when he was the Regent of Pati.

"Well, this is certainly also a warning to other regions. Not just Pati, of course," he said.

Previously, on January 19, 2026, the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) confirmed that it had carried out its third sting operation (OTT) in 2026 in Pati Regency and arrested Pati Regent Sudewo.

Then, on January 20, 2026, the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) brought Sudewo along with seven other people to the KPK's Red and White Building.

On the same date, the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) announced four suspects in an alleged corruption case related to extortion in filling village officials' positions within the Pati Regency Government.

They are the Regent of Pati, Sudewo (SDW); the Head of Karangrowo Village, Jakenan District, Abdul Suyono (YON); the Head of Arumanis Village, Jaken District, Sumarjiono (JION); and the Head of Sukorukun Village, Jaken District, Karjan (JAN).

In addition, the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) announced Sudewo as a suspect in the alleged bribery case related to the construction and maintenance of railway lines within the Directorate General of Railways at the Ministry of Transportation.
