Newspaper reports indicate that Al Ahly player Emam Ashour will not travel with the team to Tanzania to face their host, Young Africans football team.
Al Ahly is scheduled to face Young Africans next Saturday in the fourth round of the group stage of the African Champions League.
The Egyptian website "Yallakora" reported that Al-Ahly's delegation was surprised on Thursday by Imam Ashour's absence from the team upon arrival at Cairo Airport in preparation for boarding the plane.
For his part, Danish coach Jess Torop, the technical director of Al-Ahly club, decided, after Ashour failed to attend the training camp, not to take the player with the team.
The main reasons for Imam Ashour's absence from Al-Ahly's trip to Tanzania are still unclear, and this is a question that the club's officials are waiting to answer.
It should be noted that Ashour’s name had appeared on the list announced by Yes Torop for travel to Tanzania.
According to the Egyptian newspaper "Al-Watan", the Danish coach expressed widespread dissatisfaction to the football director, Walid Salah El-Din, because of Ashour's stance.
Torop stressed the need to focus on the Young Africans match in order to impose maximum concentration among the players before the match, with the player’s situation to be decided definitively after Al-Ahly’s return to Cairo.
Al Ahly leads the standings in Group B of the CAF Champions League with seven points, followed by Young Africans in second place with four points.
