Apple is reportedly considering using multispectral imaging technology in its next-generation iPhone to improve its phone's photography capabilities.
As reported by GSM Arena on Friday, the information was provided by tech leaker Digital Chat Station, who stated that Apple has expressed interest in multispectral sensors and has begun exploring partnerships with suppliers. However, according to the report, testing of the technology has not yet begun.
Multispectral technology works by capturing light in a number of different wavelength bands, including spectrums invisible to the human eye.
Unlike conventional sensors that only record red, green, and blue (RGB), multispectral sensors are capable of collecting richer and more detailed visual data.
