Iron deficiency anemia can be prevented by paying attention to nutritional intake.  Clinical nutrition specialist Dr. dr. Luciana Sutanto, MS, SpGK (K), believes that nutritional intake needs to be considered to prevent iron deficiency anemia, especially during the first 1,000 days of life.

In a health discussion in Jakarta on Thursday, the doctor who graduated from the University of Indonesia said that iron deficiency anemia is included in the category of nutritional anemia which is closely related to insufficient nutrient intake.

"The reality is that we still find that anemia in Indonesia is very high, especially iron deficiency anemia. This must be addressed through prevention, particularly nutritional health during the first 1,000 days of life," said Luciana.
