Indonesian mixed doubles pair Jafar Hidayatullah and Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu suffered their seventh consecutive defeat against the host pair and fourth seeds Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei in the first round of the BWF World Tour Super 1000 Malaysia Open 2026.
Competing at the Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur, Tuesday, Jafar/Felisha lost two straight games 12-21, 17-21 in 39 minutes.
"Today's performance fell short of expectations. I made a lot of mistakes and my movements were uncomfortable," Felisha said in an official statement from the Indonesian Badminton Association.
Previously, Jafar/Felisha also lost to Chen/Toh at the 2025 Indonesia Masters with a score of 22-24, 14-21. They continued their losses at the 2025 Japan Open with a score of 17-21, 16-21, 12-21, and at the 2025 World Championships in a three-game match, 21-14, 19-21, 17-21.
Similar results occurred at the 2025 China Masters, with a score of 13-21, 21-13, 16-21, and at the 2025 Australian Open, where they lost in straight games, 16-21, 11-21. In their final meeting at the 2025 BWF World Tour Finals, Jafar/Felisha were again defeated, 21-17, 14-21, 15-21.
