Liverpool stole full points at Marseille's home with a 3-0 win  Liverpool secured full points at Marseille's Velodrome Stadium on Thursday, after securing a 3-0 victory in their seventh match of the 2025/2026 Champions League.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot fielded his best XI in this match, aiming to secure eight automatic qualifications for the round of 16, including Mohamed Salah. Salah was playing his first match since the Egyptian striker completed his international career at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

In the first half, Marseille as the host played more cautiously, while Liverpool as the visiting team played aggressively by pressing with a high line.

Alexis Mac Allister created a dangerous opportunity in the 18th minute when his low shot went just wide of Marseille's goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli.

About 10 minutes later, Marseille responded to Liverpool's opportunity through Amine Gouiri's powerful shot which was saved by Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

Liverpool's play heated up in the final 10 minutes, as Marseille's defense began to loosen. In the 39th minute, Jeremie Frimpong's cross from the right was met by Salah, but the Liverpool star's shot went just wide.

After numerous attacks, Liverpool finally found the goal they were looking for in the 45+1 minute through Dominik Szoboszlai's free kick. The Hungarian expertly struck a low shot, taking advantage of a wall of diving Marseille players. The score remained 1-0 at halftime.
