Cleveland Cavaliers basketball player Max Strus will need at least a month to recover from his injury, meaning he will still be out of action for the club in the 2025-2026 NBA season.
The club's website said Wednesday that the forward is still recovering from surgery for a Jones fracture , a crack in the bone that connects the little toe to the bottom of the foot.
Strus suffered the injury during training during the off-season .
He underwent surgery on August 26 of last year. Initially, the medical team estimated that the 28-year-old would return to basketball within three to four months.
However, the results of the latest evaluation and imaging examinations indicate that the bone healing process is not yet fully complete, so additional recovery time is required.
The Cavaliers said the player will undergo further evaluation with the medical team and coaching staff in the next four weeks.
Strus' absence since the start of the season has been a loss for the Cavaliers.
Last season, Strus performed quite consistently, averaging 9.4 points per game (ppg), 4.3 rebounds per game (rpg), and 3.2 assists per game (apg) in 50 games, including 37 starts.
His contributions helped the Cavaliers finish at the top of the Eastern Conference standings.
Meanwhile, this season, the club has recorded a 20-17 (win-loss) record, to occupy eighth place in the Eastern Conference.
