Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria emphasized that telecommunications networks have now become a basic public need, so stopping services without an alternative solution is unwise and could potentially disrupt public services.
"When there are differences of opinion regarding regulations or authority over asset management, they should be resolved through dialogue and coordination, not by cutting off services that directly impact the public," Nezar said in a press release received in Jakarta on Friday.
Nezar stated that the Ministry of Communication and Digital is ready to facilitate dialogue between regional governments and the telecommunications industry to align regional revenue interests with the sustainability of national digital services.
"We understand that regions need local revenue. However, policies must continue to support the public interest and the broader direction of Indonesia's digital transformation. Harmonizing central and regional regulations is crucial to ensure the smooth running of telecommunications infrastructure development," he stressed.
