The Central Board of the All Indonesia Badminton Association (PP PBSI) held the 2026 PBSI National Selection (Seleknas) for badminton players in the cadet or U-19 category at the Majeh Arena Wadas, Karawang on February 3–7, 2026 as part of the process of selecting young athletes for the PBSI National Training Center.
Head of Development and Achievement Division of PP PBSI Eng Hian said that the National Selection is part of the national achievement development system which is carried out in a tiered and sustainable manner.
"Through this National Selection, PBSI ensures that the selection of young athletes is carried out objectively, measurably, and based on achievement," said Eng Hian in his official statement, Thursday.
Participants who meet the criteria include the champions of the 2025 PBSI National Championship for Individual Cadets Division I in the singles and doubles sectors, except for athletes who were previously recruited to the National Training Center.
The National Selection also includes athletes born in 2007 and later who are ranked among the top 15 nationally among U-19 youth in their respective categories. Rankings are calculated based on the national ranking as of December 24, 2025, following the 2025 PBSI National Championship.
PP PBSI also appointed three young athletes to enter the National Training Center through direct recruitment, namely Mayla Cahya Afilian Pratiwi (Mutiara Cardinal Bandung) from the women's singles and the pair Alexius Ongkytama Subagio/Aquino Evano Keneddy Tangka (Djarum Kudus) from the men's doubles.
The three were recruited based on consistent performance throughout 2025 and the results of monitoring by the PP PBSI Talent Scout Team.
