Polda Metro Jaya has stopped investigating the death of Arya Daru.
The Jakarta Metropolitan Police have stopped investigating the death of young diplomat from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu), Arya Daru Pangayunan (ADP).

"According to the investigators, the investigation was stopped because the series of investigations, evidence processing and witness statements resulted in no criminal acts being found," said Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metro Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, in his statement in Jakarta, Friday.

However, he said if any family members had new and valid evidence, investigators would investigate further.

The termination of the investigation was based on a notification letter from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Regional Police to the family with the number B/63/I/RES.1.24/2026/Ditreskrimum, dated January 6, 2026.

Previously, the legal representative for Arya Daru Pangayunan's family, Nicholay Aprilindo, asked the Metro Jaya Regional Police to hold a case title regarding the death of the young diplomat from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"Because what we know and what we received from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police itself, is that until now, no case title has ever been held," said Nicholay when met at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Headquarters on November 26, 2025.

He explained that Polda Metro Jaya had just held a press conference on July 29, 2025, which was to announce or notify the results of the expert's conclusions.

"Therefore, we are requesting a case conference in this case. Furthermore, during the conference, we are also requesting that the case be escalated to an investigation so that legal action and coercive action can be taken against those suspected of involvement in this mysterious death," Nicholay stated.

As is known, Arya Daru Pangayunan was found dead in his boarding room in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, on July 8, 2025.

When found, his face was wrapped in duct tape/plastic, and there was no significant mess found in the boarding room, namely the sheets and blankets were in order, and there were no signs of rough impact on the body.

In addition, the boarding room also uses a security system with a smart lock so that access is controlled and raises serious questions about how the perpetrator entered the room.
