Many Indonesian rock climbing athletes are offered by other countries
The Chairperson of the Indonesian Rock Climbing Federation (FPTI), Yenny Wahid, revealed that many of her athletes have been offered positions with other countries.

Yenny is grateful that athletes have so far been reluctant to be naturalized by other countries despite receiving tempting offers.

"Indonesian rock climbers are being eyed by other countries, and some are even being asked to naturalize in their own countries to represent them and become citizens," Yenny said in an official statement on Thursday.

"So far, our athletes are still loyal to the Republic of Indonesia, to Indonesia, but in the future, senior athletes who are no longer able to compete due to their age can be naturalized," said Yenny.

According to Yenny, this practice is legitimate considering that a domestic career will one day be impossible for senior athletes, considering that the prime period of rock climbing athletes is relatively short.

"I don't think this is a matter of patriotism or nationalism, but rather of them competing abroad when career paths at home are no longer feasible or the competition is too fierce," Yenny said.
