Pelita Jaya Jakarta player and captain Andakara Prastawa admitted he has learned a lot from four head coaches in the last two seasons of the Indonesian Basketball League (IBL), or since the 2024 edition.
According to him, the change of head coach from Rob Beveridge, Johannis Winar (Coach Ahang), Justin Tatum, and now David Singleton, is an experience that many players rarely experience in a short period of time, but it has had a positive impact.
"We are fortunate to have gained a lot of knowledge from different coaches, as each coach has his or her own positives and negatives. So, we can take the positives from each coach over the past two years," Prastawa said at the launch of Pelita Jaya Jakarta's team officials and players for the 2026 Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) in Jakarta on Thursday.
He explained that the change of coach made the players adapt to various approaches or game philosophies.
Because, the differences in the coach's character make the players understand many points of view of the game, starting from discipline to focus on the game system or defense.
This process is considered to enrich the players' tactical insight, while also developing maturity in dealing with changes at the professional level.
He further explained that the experience of working with several coaches has been a valuable learning experience for the squad because the goal of all coaches remains the same, namely to improve the quality of the players and the team.
