Men's doubles badminton pair Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin made their debut at the 2026 Indonesia Masters, advancing to the round of 16 after defeating the fierce resistance of French pair Eloi Adam/Leo Rossi 22-20, 15-21, 21-10 in the round of 32 at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday.
"The evaluation is that we played with nothing to lose, so there was no pressure," said Raymond in a press conference after the match.
Making his debut in this BWF super 500 tournament, Joaquin aims to go as far as possible and survive.
"If it's a target, I want my hotel to extend until the last day," said Joaquin with a laugh.
Raymond/Joaquin, who previously won the 2025 Australian Open title, are looking to gain a memorable experience at the 2026 Indonesia Masters.
Moreover, Raymond/Joaquin have now experienced a different atmosphere with the full support of the fans at Istora.
Joaquin admitted that this was his first time experiencing the atmosphere of the Indonesia Masters tournament and was impressed by the support of the crowd at Istora.
"I really didn't expect it to be this crowded. This is my first time playing in the Indonesia Masters. The atmosphere is incredible compared to other tournaments," said Joaquin.
