Students at the Armored Forces Engineering College in Omsk have named their amphibious robot "Omich-Vodomet" (Water Thrower from Omsk), according to the military institution's Telegram channel. The channel also posted photos of the unusually shaped vehicle, which is equipped with special features for traversing water obstacles.

The platform features wide tracks that give it good mobility on both water and land, while the design of the front of the structure and the presence of "buoys" allow it to move even against the current. The students plan to equip the robot with artificial intelligence components and a water purification unit in the future.

According to the channel, the robot will not be limited to military purposes; it can also be used in civilian sectors, such as oil spill response and river and lake cleanup. The students also explained that the robot moves easily on dirt roads and maintains its balance in water, making it practical in challenging and varied conditions.

The students intend to train the robot to "think," so that it becomes capable of providing logistical services, collecting waste, and contributing to environmental protection operations, thus opening up broad prospects for its future uses.
