Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Saan Mustopa, said that the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) decided to nominate Adies Kadir as a Constitutional Justice at the Constitutional Court because Adies holds professor and doctoral degrees in law.
In addition, Saan said that throughout his career in Senayan, Adies has always been a member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, which oversees legal affairs, so Adies is believed to have experience and a strong track record.
"I am confident that Mr. Adies is fully qualified to be a Constitutional Justice," Saan said at the parliamentary complex.
He also did not deny that there were concerns regarding the Constitutional Court judges coming from the DPR, following the cases of Patrialis Akbar and Akil Mochtar in the past.
However, he believes the experience will be a learning experience for Adies to maintain his credibility and integrity as a Constitutional Court judge.
On the other hand, Saan also ensured that Adies' nomination as a Constitutional Court Judge was in accordance with the applicable mechanisms and provisions.
"We are confident that Mr. Adies will carry out this mandate with integrity, maintain credibility, and be professional," said Saan.
Previously, the 12th Plenary Session of the 3rd Session Period of the 2025-2026 Session Year approved Adies Kadir, who was previously the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, to become a Constitutional Justice at the Constitutional Court from the Indonesian House of Representatives institution.
"Can it be approved?" said Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Saan Mustopa, while leading a plenary session, which was met with affirmative action from members of the Indonesian House of Representatives present at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Tuesday.
In addition, the plenary session also agreed to revoke the Decree of the Indonesian House of Representatives Number 11/DPR/1/2025-2026 concerning the DPR's approval of the replacement of constitutional judges, which had previously nominated Inosentius Samsul.
