Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal, said that Thomas Djiwandono, who has been approved to become Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, will be a glue, mediator, and catalyst between fiscal and monetary policies.
According to him, this role is necessary for a country to face shocks as a shock absorber , and the government wants to ensure that fiscal and monetary policies are truly solid.
" God willing , first give the new Deputy Governor the trust to carry out his monetary functions," said Cucun at the parliamentary complex.
He also did not deny that there were always assumptions that the market was shaken by this issue.
However, he stressed that Thomas needed to be given trust in carrying out his duties.
Previously, the Plenary Session of the Indonesian House of Representatives approved Thomas Djiwandono as Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) for the 2026–2031 period at a Plenary Session at the parliament complex, Jakarta, Tuesday.
"Now, may we ask the honorable council, whether the report of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) can be approved?" said Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI, Saan Mustopa, while leading the plenary session.
The question was answered in the affirmative by the meeting participants, accompanied by the chairman banging the gavel.
With this decision, Thomas Djiwandono has been officially approved by the DPR as Deputy Governor of BI, replacing Juda Agung, who resigned from his position on January 13, 2026.
