The Minister of Communication and Information Technology says the new mobile card regulations will prevent digital crime.

  Communications and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid said the new mobile card registration regulations give people full control over the mobile numbers registered using their identities, as a concrete step to narrow the scope for fraud and digital crime.

This policy is regulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Digital Number 7 of 2026 concerning Registration of Telecommunication Service Customers through Cellular Mobile Networks.

In her official statement  Meutya emphasized that mobile card registration is no longer positioned as a mere administrative procedure, but rather an important instrument for protecting the public in the digital space.
