Dr. Pavel Khoroshikh, a clinical psychologist, points out that lethargy and a bad mood may be signs of depression.

According to Dr. Pavel Khoroshikh, reading books, walking outdoors, and maintaining a regular sleep schedule all help regulate bodily functions.

He adds: "Depression is a temporary change in bodily functions, and it can change and correct itself. If a person notices that they are often in a bad mood, sometimes feel unwilling to do anything, or are lazy, these could be signs of depression."

He points out that the best ways to alleviate depression include walking outdoors and maintaining a regular sleep schedule, while noting that depression can also stem from exhaustion and stress. Therefore, engaging in simple, low-impact activities such as drawing, reading a book, or listening to music is recommended.

He adds that during winter, the body enters a state of "hibernation," switching to energy-saving mode, which leads to a decrease in serotonin – the happiness hormone – and vitamin D, which is produced when exposed to sunlight. The shorter the daylight hours, the less these are produced, leading to a decline in mood.

In the spring, mood may improve as daylight hours increase, increasing serotonin and vitamin D production and decreasing melatonin levels, leading to a feeling of alertness and improved mood.
