Asian Futsal Cup semifinal schedule, Indonesia has a chance to win

Indonesia made history in the Asian Futsal Cup after reaching the semifinals of the 2026 edition to face Japan at the Indonesia Arena, Jakarta, tomorrow, Thursday at 7:00 p.m. WIB, which coach Hector Souto said Indonesia could win.

Hector Souto's squad's success in reaching the semifinals is Indonesia's best performance in 11 appearances at the Asian Futsal Cup, since its debut in 2002 when it hosted the tournament.

Previously, Indonesia's best achievement was the quarter-finals four years ago in Kuwait when Indonesia was finally defeated by Japan 2-3, which eventually won that edition.

Now, fate has brought the two teams together again in the 2026 Futsal Asia Cup, and Souto says his team will have to give their best to advance to the final.

"This is a very strong opponent and I think we will have to be at our best professional performance to have a chance of beating them," said the Spanish coach at a pre-match press conference at the Indonesia Arena on Wednesday.

The match will also be more than just a semi-final as the Indonesian players will be reunited with their former coach, Kensuke Takahashi, who is now in charge of Japan.
