Coach reveals Iran's secret to becoming futsal king in Asia
Iran's national futsal team coach Vahid Shamsaee revealed the secret of his team becoming the "kings" of Asian futsal, having now won 13 Futsal Asia Cup titles out of 17 editions played since 1999 in Malaysia.

This was said by Shamsaee ahead of the 2026 Asian Futsal Cup semifinal match when his team meets Iraq at the Indonesia Arena.

"When we advance to a tournament, we try to focus and concentrate to give our best and minimize mistakes," said the 50-year-old coach at a pre-match press conference at the Indonesia.

"This sport teaches us a lot. We can't afford to play around because the participants are giving their best," he added.

At a press conference before the tournament began, Shamsaee said that he was bringing a different team from the edition that won the 2024 Futsal Asia Cup and played in the 2024 Futsal World Cup.

He made many changes in the team, but so far Iran remains strong in the 2026 Futsal Asian Cup because they finished four matches with wins.
