Persija recruits young striker Mauro Zijlstra to sharpen its front line
  Persija  has further strengthened its squad ahead of the second round of the 2025/2026 Super League by recruiting young Indonesian striker Mauro Nils Zijlstra.

The player born in Zaandam, Netherlands, November 9 2004 was tied to a 2.5 season contract with the club nicknamed the Kemayoran Tigers.

Mauro admitted that he was enthusiastic about his new challenge with Persija and was aware of the high expectations at the capital club.

"I'm very ready to take on the challenge with Persija. Persija is a great team with a target of winning the title this season. I'm very enthusiastic about this challenge. I'm very happy, and so is my family. As I said, Persija is a great club. So I'm very happy to be here," said Mauro, as quoted in an official statement.

Persija Director Mohamad Prapanca stated that Mauro's recruitment was a strategic move by the club to meet this season's targets and align with its long-term plans.

"We see Mauro as a young player with great potential and a promising future. This season, he will add depth to the Persija squad. Furthermore, Mauro's presence is part of the process of building a strong team, not just for one season, but for several seasons to come," said Prapanca.
