Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin said the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) must be an adaptive and solid fortress of sovereignty.
Defense Minister Sjafrie conveyed this while providing strategic direction to the TNI leadership at the 2026 TNI Leadership Meeting (Rapim) at the A. Yani Sports Hall, TNI Headquarters.
In his statement, the Minister of Defense conveyed the vital position of the TNI as the front guard and the last bastion of sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
Sjafrie emphasized that starting in 2026, the development of TNI's strength must undergo fundamental revitalization and there must be no looking back.
Defense policy must be adaptive to the challenges of the times, ranging from ideological sovereignty, politics to economics.
"We must emphasize revitalization and implement a revolution in building the strength of the Indonesian National Armed Forces. From 2026 onward, we must continue to move forward," said Sjafrie.
He also highlighted the importance of the TNI's role in safeguarding the nation's natural resource wealth as part of a comprehensive defense strategy.
The Minister of Defense reminded that modern threats do not only consist of physical war, but also efforts by foreign parties to covet Indonesia's natural resources.
Therefore, the TNI's readiness in Military Operations of War (OMP) and Military Operations Other Than War (OMSP) is absolute.
