A recent medical study has revealed a method that helps the brain cope with fatigue and exhaustion caused by sleep deprivation.

During the study, researchers investigated the effect of what is called "sleep accretion" on the brain and mental state. They studied the results of experiments in which participants slept for 9-10 hours before the expected night in which they would stay up late. It was found that this method helps the brain to regain its normal activity more quickly after sleep deprivation and gives the body the ability to recover more quickly after exhaustion.

The researchers stressed that this method cannot be used to compensate for chronic sleep deprivation, but only in certain cases, when a person is forced to stay up late sometimes. According to their hypothesis, the brain has a mechanism to restore activity in such cases that depends on "storing energy" that can be consumed during periods of exhaustion, and this explains the effectiveness of "cumulative sleep" in maintaining mental health.

The researchers explained that the "sleep accumulation" method can be adopted as a short-term strategy before night work shifts, or by students during exam preparation periods, as it is an easy and practical way to maintain physical and mental activity after staying up late and becoming exhausted.

Some studies also indicate that a 40-50 minute nap during the day helps to reduce the overload on neural connections that accumulates as a result of daily mental activity, and improves the brain's ability to think throughout the day.
