Nutritionist Dr. Galina Volkova recommends consuming at least 400 grams of vegetables daily, in addition to foods rich in protein and fats
She says: “From a medical point of view, we rely on the principle of nutrition, not on one type of food. If we were to identify an essential daily element, it would be vegetables, with a recommendation to consume at least 400-500 grams daily. It can be said that it is the only food group that is indisputable: fiber ensures the health of the digestive system and microbiome, vitamins and minerals, and reduces the risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.”
In addition, the doctor recommends eating foods rich in protein and fats at every main meal, and drinking enough water.
She says: "The idea that you have to eat a specific type of food is a myth, because it is better to follow a balanced diet."
