Hangtuah coach Wahyu Widayat Jati revealed that his team will immediately look for a local guard who is consistent and accurate in shooting to survive the tight competition in the IBL this season.
He explained that he would make the most of the opportunity to exchange local players next week so that his club could acquire new ammunition according to the team's current needs.
"Yes, maybe the quality of my players is like this now, so we'll have a decent break, which we can use to improve, one way is by trading," Wahyu said after Hangtuah lost 81-98 to Pelita Jaya Jakarta at GMSB, Kuningan, Friday night.
He said the defeat was a matter for Hangtuah to evaluate, especially the contribution of local players who had not performed consistently.
He believes his team needs additional strength in the back line to compete with top teams.
According to him, the team needs a local guard who consistently scores points, especially through long-range shots and penetration into the opponent's defense area.
The wing positions are also a concern as the team needs players who can create attacking space.
