Indonesian national futsal team coach Hector Souto admitted he still regrets his team's defeat to Iran in the 2026 Asian Futsal Cup final at the Indonesia.
"It still hurts," Souto said in the caption of his official Instagram post on Tuesday.
In the final, Indonesia was shocked by Iran's early goal. However, the Garuda squad rallied to turn the score around to 3-1, before later equalizing at 3-3. In normal time, Indonesia regained the lead at 4-3, but Iran equalized again, making it 4-4.
The match went into extra time, with Indonesia scoring a goal that almost sealed their victory with a score of 5-4 two minutes before the end.
Unfortunately, Iran equalized the score again, making it 5-5 with one minute of stoppage time remaining. The score then went to a penalty shootout, where Indonesia lost 4-5.
