The Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs said data security protects the public from AI risks.
Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital (Wamenkomdigi) Nezar Patria emphasized that data quality and security are key to protecting the public from the risks of artificial intelligence (AI) that is erroneous, biased, or infiltrated by manipulation.

He warned that data poisoning practices could damage AI systems and directly impact the public, ranging from automated decision-making errors to the misuse of personal data. He argued that sustainable and sovereign AI innovation depends on data management.

"We need strong data management, and it must be a crucial foundation. Therefore, I urge all of us to focus on three aspects," Nezar said at the Data and AI Conference 2026
According to him, AI is highly dependent on the quality of data sets . Unclean and unstandardized data risks producing biased decisions that harm society.

"AI is very vulnerable to going haywire if data poisoning occurs , for example if the data is unclean," he stressed.
