Barcelona failed to dislodge Real Madrid from the top of the standings after losing dramatically 1-2 at Girona's headquarters in the continuation of the 24th week of the Spanish League at the Municipal de Montilivi Stadium.
Barcelona scored first through Pau Cubarsi, but Girona was able to turn the score around through goals from Thomas Lemar and Fran Beltran.
This defeat left Hansi Flick's team stuck in second place with 58 points, two points behind Real Madrid who won 4-1 over Real Sociedad.
Meanwhile, Girona managed to move away from the relegation zone and is ranked 12th with 29 points, as reported on the official LaLiga website.
