Mutiara apologizes after failing to score against Japan in the 2026 BATC.
Indonesian women's singles player Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari apologized to her supporters and team after failing to score in the second match of Group X of the 2026 Asian Team Championships (BATC) against Japan at Qingdao Conson Gymnasium, China, on Thursday.

"I can't comment much, I humbly apologize to all the supporters and the team," Mutiara said in an official statement after the match.

Mutiara, playing in the second women's singles, lost to Hina Akechi in straight games, 2-21, 9-21. The defeat gave Japan a 2-1 lead over Indonesia.

The 19-year-old admitted that his game had not met expectations despite good preparation.

"The game was far from what I expected and imagined. We had actually prepared well, had observed the opponent and had met before. This result certainly fell far short of my expectations, and those of anyone else," he said.
