Rachel/Febi contributed points for Indonesia after a dramatic victory over the Japanese pair Arisa Igarashi/Chiharu Shida through a three-game battle of 21-12, 18-21, 23-21.
"Thank God, I'm so happy to have scored a point without any injuries. At first, we tried to stay calm, but we couldn't relax. We stayed focused and didn't want to lose," Rachel said in a statement from the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) after the match.
Rachel/Febi dominated the first game. They controlled play from the start and closed the interval with an 11-5 lead before securing the opening game with a 21-12 victory.
