Austrian developer behind the artificial intelligence-based personal assistant software OpenClaw, Peter Steinberger, has joined artificial intelligence research and development company OpenAI.
According to Euro News on Monday (16/2), OpenClaw is an open source project designed to build artificial intelligence (AI) assistants that can perform various tasks independently.
AI agents built through this platform can, among other things, manage calendars, book flights, and join social networks populated by other AI assistants without human intervention.
The platform also supports Moltbook, a controversial social media platform designed specifically for AI bots.
In a statement on his personal website, Steinberger said he joined OpenAI to further its mission of building AI agents that can be used by everyone.
"It requires broader changes, more thinking about how to do it safely, and access to the latest models and research," Steinberger said.
"Ultimately, I felt OpenAI was the best place to continue pushing my vision and expanding its reach," he added.
Instead of becoming a company, he said, OpenClaw will transition to a foundation so it can remain open source and have the freedom to continue growing.
