Pelita Jaya Jakarta coach David Singleton confirmed that his team will prepare effective and efficient training schedules during the month of Ramadan to maintain consistent player performance throughout the 2026 Indonesian Basketball League (IBL).
"There are more than three or four players who are fasting, plus some staff, so we will adjust the training time accordingly, so they can eat and drink afterward," he said after his team won 98-81 against Hangtuah Jakarta, at the Soemantri Brodjonegoro Student Sports Center (GMSB), Kuningan.
According to him, arranging a training schedule is an important aspect to ensure players remain in optimal physical condition, without disrupting their obligation to fast.
The coaching team also tries to keep the training intensity effective, but not excessive.
Singleton added that this approach had been implemented several times in previous seasons and was deemed effective in maintaining a balance between the demands of competition and the players' fitness during the fast.
