Sony Corporation announced it will stop production of Blu-ray Disc recorders this month following declining demand in recent years.As reported by The Indian Express its announcement, Sony stated that it will gradually end shipments of all Blu-ray Disc recorder models starting in February 2026 and will not introduce a successor model.
In 2024, Sony had already announced plans to phase out the development and production of Blu-ray Disc and a number of other optical disc formats.
