State Secretary: Deployment of 8,000 Indonesian peacekeeping troops is still being finalized
Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi stated that the Indonesian government is finalizing plans to send peacekeeping troops as part of its commitment to the Board of Peace (BoP) to help reduce the conflict in Palestine.

He stated that the troop deployment process is still under discussion. However, Prasetyo estimates that approximately 8,000 TNI soldiers will be sent.

"It's being discussed, but there's a possibility we'll reach around 8,000," Prasetyo said.

Previously, information had surfaced that the Rafah region was a possible placement option. However, Prasetyo stated that the decision was not yet final.

"We're just preparing ourselves. If an agreement is reached, we'll send peacekeeping troops as a commitment. We'll do that," he explained.

The State Secretary emphasized that Indonesia's involvement in the BoP is part of the nation's commitment to the Palestinian struggle, particularly in supporting the recognition of Palestinian independence and helping to alleviate the suffering of the Gazan people.

Furthermore, Prasetyo stated that Indonesia's joining the BoP along with seven other Muslim countries is expected to reduce the escalation of the conflict and open access for humanitarian aid to the Gaza region.

"At the very least, we hope to reduce the escalation of the conflict in Gaza, thereby reducing the suffering of our brothers and sisters. With this process underway, food aid can enter Gaza. We hope this will ease the burden on our brothers and sisters," said Prasetyo.
