Defender Alvaro Carreras suffered an injury ahead of Real Madrid's match against Manchester City in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 which took place at the Santiago Bernabeu.
In a statement from Real Madrid on Monday, Carreras was diagnosed with a muscle injury in his right calf and is currently awaiting developments regarding the treatment process for the injury.
"Following tests carried out on our player Álvaro Carreras by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in his right calf. We will await further developments," Real Madrid wrote.
Carreras' injury adds to the long list of Los Blancos players who are certain to be absent from the match against The Citizens.
Currently, the Los Galacticos squad is limping as several key players such as Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo Goes, Eder Militao, Dean Huijsen, Dani Ceballos, and David Alaba are still in the process of recovering from injuries.
As for Mbappe and Bellingham, Los Blancos are currently working to ensure the two key players are in top physical condition for the match against Manchester City.
Carreras' injury is certainly a heavy blow for Alvaro Arbeloa's team, which is in a defensive crisis.
