Persib Bandung player Thom Haye's name is not on the list of 41 names in the Indonesian national team's provisional squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The reason Haye was not included in coach John Herdman's first "Garuda Calling" squad was not due to his declining performance or injury, but because he was serving a playing ban from FIFA.
Haye received this sanction in Indonesia's final match in the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers against Iraq in Saudi Arabia in October last year.
In the match, which Iraq won 0-1, Haye was sanctioned for unsportsmanlike behavior towards match officials during and after the match.
As a result, Haye was banned from playing four international matches on the FIFA calendar. He was also fined 5,000 CHF or approximately Rp103 million.
Besides Haye, the player who received the same sanction was Shayne Pattynama, who now plays for Persija.
