French League standings: Lens close behind Paris Saint-Germain
Lens is once again in the driving seat behind French Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), with the two teams now separated by just one point.

PSG are at the top with 57 points, while Lens are in second place with 56 points,

This situation arose after PSG suffered a home defeat to AS Monaco. Monaco, who came to the Parc des Princes seeking revenge for their Champions League round-of-16 playoff defeat to Luis Enrique's side, successfully achieved their goal.

Three goals from Maghnes Akliouche (27'), Aleksandr Golovin (55'), and Folarin Balogun (73'), which was only answered by one goal from Bradley Barcola (71') made them win with a score of 3-1.

Lens, who had just played on Sunday, capitalized on this defeat. Playing at home, they convincingly defeated Metz 3-0 with goals from Saud Abdulhamid (44'), Florian Thauvin (46'), and Amadou Haidara (52').
