Borneo FC coach Fabio Lefundes expressed gratitude for his team's 2-2 draw against Persija Jakarta in the 24th week of the Super League at the Jakarta International Stadium.
Lefundes made this statement after his team demonstrated an extraordinary mentality in this match by being able to come back from behind twice, first when Juan Villa equalized Gustavo Almeida's goal, then Ikhsan Zikrak made the score 2-2 after the home team had previously turned the score around through a Fabio Calonego shot.
"First, we must be grateful because the players gave their all on the field. Persija is one of our direct competitors at the top. In Samarinda, we won, but here we drew, meaning we got four points out of six (against Persija)," said Lefundes at the post-match press conference.
Lefundes' gratitude also stems from seeing his team cover for the loss of two of its best players: Christophe Nduwarugira, who is serving a yellow card suspension, and Kaio Nunes, who is injured.
"But I'm grateful because we have players who can play in more than one position. Individually, our team gave their all so that collectively we could achieve a result. Physically, this team was exceptional tonight. And a lot of that was due to our midfield," said Lefundes.
