Elkan Baggott and Ezra Walian, the "lost children" of the Indonesian national team
Indonesian national team coach John Herdman has finally announced his first "Garuda Calling" in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium.

Herdman, who was announced as the Garuda team coach in January, called up 41 of the best names in his first "Garuda Calling".

Of these 41 names, two have caught the eye: the return of "prodigal sons" Elkan Baggott and Ezra Walian. These two players have not represented the Red and White for a long time.

Elkan last played for Indonesia two years ago, while Ezra played for Indonesia even longer, around four years ago.

The two also started from different generations. Elkan made his debut during the Shin Tae-yong era, while Ezra made his debut during the Luis Milla era. According to Transfermarkt, Elkan has more caps than Ezra, with 23, more than double Ezra's nine.

The two have previously played together, in a friendly against Afghanistan in November 2021 and then in the ASEAN Championship tournament, or the 2020 AFF Cup, which began in December 2021 in Singapore.
