Iranian army shoots down US drone in southeastern Iran

The Iranian army announced on Monday that it had shot down an advanced American "Lucas" drone in the regional airspace of the southeast of the country.

The Fars News Agency, quoting a statement from the army's air defense unit, reported that Iranian air defense systems detected and targeted the drone as soon as it entered the airspace in the southeastern region, and it was successfully shot down.

The statement affirmed that this operation comes within the framework of legitimate defense of national sovereignty and national security, stressing that the Iranian armed forces are monitoring all movements in the vicinity of the country with utmost precision and vigilance, and will respond firmly to any attempt at infiltration.

Informed sources indicated that the downed drone was a sophisticated "Lucas" model, primarily used for reconnaissance and intelligence gathering. No official comment has yet been issued by U.S. Central Command regarding the incident.
