A senior Iranian official said that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei rejected proposals conveyed to Tehran by two mediating countries to ease tensions or establish a ceasefire with the United States, during his first meeting on foreign policy.
The official added that Khamenei’s stance on taking revenge against the United States and Israel is “very firm and serious.”
The official did not clarify whether the supreme leader attended the meeting in person.
The official said the supreme leader said that “the time is not right for peace until the United States and Israel are forced to capitulate, accept defeat, and pay reparations.”
Three sources stated on March 14 that the Trump administration rejected efforts by Middle Eastern allies to initiate diplomatic negotiations aimed at ending the war with Iran.
