A missile strike hit Israel on Saturday in Eshtaol, a moshav near Beit Shemesh, west of Jerusalem, injuring seven people and damaging several homes in a civilian area. First responders, security forces, and rescue teams were quickly deployed to the scene. Magen David Adom reported treating and evacuating seven people with minor injuries, while units from the Home Front Command searched the impact zone for further casualties. The strike highlighted once again the strain on populated areas despite Israel's multi-layered air defense system. Israeli officials stated that the missile either evaded air defenses or was not fully intercepted, and that the Israeli Air Force was analyzing the failure. The injured were taken to Shaare Zedek and Hadassah hospitals in Jerusalem. The attack is part of a broader escalation that has kept many communities on high alert since the start of the war on February 28. Reports of missile fire from Yemen have also revived the risk of the regional front expanding.
