La Liga leaders Barcelona remain four points ahead of second-placed Real Madrid after playing their 28th matchday last weekend.
Barca won 5-2 at home to Sevilla, making it four straight wins in La Liga to take their tally to 70 points.
Real Madrid also achieved a sweet result with a big 4-1 win over their guests, Elche, so that they now collect 66 points.
In third place, Atletico Madrid also continued their fine run. Los Rojiblancos narrowly beat Getafe 1-0 , their fourth consecutive La Liga victory, taking them to 57 points.
Fourth-placed Villarreal failed to take home three points when they visited Alaves on Saturday. Villarreal remains stuck in fourth place with 55 points.
