Minister of Youth and Sports: Indonesian sports must be free from sexual violence
Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir emphasized that Indonesian sports must be free from sexual violence practices that have recently emerged in several sports.

This was conveyed by Erick after receiving an audience with national kickboxing athlete Viona Amalia Adinda Putri, who was a victim of sexual violence in the sporting environment in which she is involved.

"Our sport must be free  Erick said .

Viona's revelation is the next case of alleged sexual violence to hit the Indonesian sports world, after a number of rock climbing athletes reported the former head coach of the national rock climbing training center to the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency for alleged sexual violence.

Erick specifically appreciated Viona's courage in revealing the alleged sexual violence she experienced in the East Java kickboxing community.

"I welcome Viona, our kickboxing athlete, who has been very brave in exposing the issues we must fight and eradicate thoroughly," he said.

Viona initially revealed the alleged sexual assault by WPC, a senior official of Kickboxing Indonesia East Java, through a personal social media post. The case is currently being handled by the East Java Regional Police, and WPC has been named as the alleged perpetrator.
