Nikola Jokic records his 29th triple-double as Nuggets beat Suns

 

  Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic recorded his 29th triple-double of the season to lead the Denver Nuggets to a narrow 125-123 victory over the Phoenix Suns in an NBA match at the Footprint Center.

According to the official NBA website, the Denver Nuggets star had 23 points, 17 rebounds , and matched his season - high with 17 assists . Jokic also scored the winning goal for the visiting team with a mid-range shot with 11.5 seconds remaining.

The three-time NBA MVP secured the triple-digit scoring streak early in the third quarter. Jokic was efficient, hitting 9 of 16 field goals, including a long, full-court pass that Christian Braun turned in for a layup.

The Denver Nuggets actually led by 10 points at halftime. However, the Phoenix Suns slowly rallied with back-to-back three-pointers from Jordan Goodwin and Grayson Allen to narrow the gap to 97-95 heading into the fourth quarter.

The game was a close contest in the final minutes, with the hosts trailing 117-109 with 3:19 remaining. Devin Booker led the Suns' comeback with a tough shot from the defensive end to tie the score at 123-123 with 30.2 seconds remaining.

Despite a productive 22 points and eight assists , Booker missed a game-winning three-pointer in the final seconds. His shot bounced off the rim, sealing the Nuggets' victory on the road.

For the Nuggets, Jamal Murray contributed 21 points, while Tim Hardaway Jr. added 18 off the bench. This win marked their sixth in their last eight games, keeping the Lakers in close touch in the Western Conference standings.

On the other hand, this defeat further derails the Phoenix Suns' run of six losses in their last seven games. Jordan Ott's team is now stuck in seventh place and faces a desperate fight to avoid the play-in tournament.
