Premier League leaders Arsenal now hold a seven-point lead over their closest rivals Manchester City after the two teams played their matches in week 29 and 30.
The Gunners deserved to top City after their 1-0 win at Brighton on Thursday (March 5). On the same day, City failed to pick up all three points, drawing 2-2 at home to Nottingham Forest.
Third-placed Manchester United failed to continue their two-game winning streak. The Red Devils lost 2-1 to Newcastle United.
Fourth-placed Aston Villa also faced a similar situation. Villa failed to pick up a point for the second consecutive season, losing 4-1 to fifth-placed Chelsea.
Last season's champions, Liverpool, also failed to continue their winning streak in the Premier League. Surprisingly, they were defeated 2-1 by bottom-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers.
At the bottom of the table, besides Wolverhampton, 18th-placed West Ham United also secured a win. The East London side secured a 1-0 victory at Fulham.
Meanwhile, Burnley, who are in 19th place, suffered their second consecutive defeat when they lost 0-2 at Everton's headquarters.
