PT Solusi Sinergi Digital or Surge, a local internet infrastructure and service provider, announced a partnership with Wuhan FiberHome International Technologies Co. Ltd. a Chinese information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure provider, to provide 1.4 GHz 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) services in Indonesia.
The signing of the cooperation document between the two companies took place at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in Barcelona on Monday (March 2). This 1.4 GHz 5G FWA commercial service is claimed to be the first in the world and marks an important milestone in accelerating digital transformation in Indonesia.
"By utilizing 1.4 GHz 5G FWA, we are accelerating fixed broadband penetration across the country, opening up new digital economic opportunities, empowering MSMEs, and strengthening Indonesia's competitiveness on the global stage. This is about building an inclusive digital future for the nation," said Surge Director Shannedy Ong in his official statement.
Surge launched its 1.4 GHz 5G FWA commercial service called Internet Rakyat (IRA) in the middle of last month, and covers the Regional 1 area, namely Java, Maluku, and Papua. The service provides high-speed fixed broadband up to 100 Mbps for IDR 100,000 per month, unlimited quota, and free modem rental.
Through this collaboration, FiberHome presents the latest network solution that enables fast and stable fixed broadband services without the need for complex cable infrastructure.
"We are confident that this initiative will serve as a catalyst for digital inclusion, economic growth, and innovation throughout Indonesia, while strengthening the country's position in the global digital ecosystem," said PT. FiberHome Technologies Indonesia CEO Jason Lin.
The IRA service resulting from the collaboration between Surge and FiberHome is expected to improve digital literacy, empower MSMEs, and expand access to digital-based education and public services throughout Indonesia.
