Cameroon: WTO meeting in Yaoundé ends in failure

Apple celebrates its 50th anniversary in excellent health, bolstered by its technological heritage, but faces an unprecedented challenge: asserting its place in the era of artificial intelligence.

The Cupertino-based group, which has sold more than 3.1 billion iPhones since 2007 and reached a valuation of more than $3.6 trillion, sees its competitors like Google, Microsoft and OpenAI gaining ground in a context of global technological race.

The Siri redesign, long touted as a cornerstone of Apple's AI strategy, has faced delays and has yet to deliver on its promises, fueling investor concerns. To bolster its capabilities, Apple is now leveraging Google Gemini and maintaining integrations with ChatGPT, thus introducing artificial intelligence in a tangible way into its flagship products.

Under the leadership of Tim Cook, CEO since 2011, Apple has transformed computing, music and mobile communication: from the Macintosh to the iPhone, from the iPod to the iPad, via the Apple Watch, each of its products has redefined technological uses and imposed new standards of design and ergonomics.

China remains a key market and production hub, but local competition and trade tensions have pushed Apple to diversify its manufacturing to India and Vietnam, strengthening its industrial resilience.

At 50, Apple is not just celebrating half a century of existence: it is embarking on a strategic shift where artificial intelligence becomes a central lever of its innovations, with Siri and new AI integrations as showcases of this ambition.
