Children can collaborate on creative content with their parents' social media accounts

Child and family psychologist Sani B. Hermawan P.Si, a graduate of the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Indonesia, said that children under 16 years old can create creative content on social media, but using their parents' social media accounts, not the child's personal account.

He conveyed this in relation to Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 concerning the Protection of Electronic System Governance in Child Protection  which restricts children aged 16 and under from using digital platforms.

"Why not collaborate with parents? Children can collaborate with their parents, but they can still surf social media and have a platform, but it won't be a personal account. This way, it doesn't stifle children's creativity; it enhances their potential through social media," Sani said.
